Harry Potter fans can satisfy their wanderlust and indulge in their fandom by traveling to these Harry Potter filming locations that you can visit. Most are free of charge and typically aren’t packed with lines, but have all the splendor and beauty of the films based on J.K. Rowling’s enrapturing works.

Goathland Station

This quaint village set the scene for the arrival of the Hogwarts Express in Hogsmeade in ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.’ Get your feel of the wood-paneled carriages on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Harrow School

Professor Flitwick’s Charms Classroom should be a must-see on your itinerary. You can see the room in which Hermione schooled Ron on how to levitate a feather. Write to Harrow School in Harrow-On-The-Hill and you can join a tour of the Fourth Form Room where the scene was filmed.

Gloucester Cathedral

Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, and the hall with the blood-smeared message were all brought to life by locations in the Cloister of the Gloucester Cathedral. Look for the door to abandoned girls’ lavatory at the northeast corner, and hunt for the location of the Fat Lady’s portrait at the end of the West Walk.

Scottish Highlands

Several scenes were filmed in the stunning land packed with lush greenery. Four lakes were used to portray the Black Lake surrounding Hogwarts – Loch Eilt, Loch Arkaig, Loch Shiel, and Loch Morar. All four of the lakes blended together to make up most of mermaid and magical-creature infested waters. Scout out Glencoe to find the hillside in which Hagrid’s hut was located as well as many scenes from ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.’

Freshwater West

The beach in Wales located in Castlemartin was the filming location for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2.’ Bill and Fleur’s home, Shell Cottage, was built at the foot of the dunes. While it’s not there anymore, you can enjoy the unspoiled beach.
